2013 White House Correspondents' Dinner: Obama Loves Rap
& Rocks Michelle's Bangs
Conan O'Brien didn't disappoint and neither did the
president at the 2013 White House Correspondents' dinner.
Taking to the stage first was Barack Obama (watch the video
below), who after being introduced by DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win,"
started off his speech joking "second term, baby" and noted his
advisors wanting him to remain a bit more traditional than go with the rap
anthem.
The president also didn't hold back when it came to his
wife, Michelle Obama, even going as far as donning his wife's signature bangs
in Photoshopped pics.
Obama's rap references didn't stop with his intro either.
Joking about Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé's recent visit to Cuba, he laughed:
"I've got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one."
Obama's best line of
the evening may have been his reference to college pot smoking. Weighing in on
the success of Buzz Feed, the president joked: "I remember Buzz Feed was
just something I did in college around 2 a.m." Then mouthing silently,
"it's true."
Funnyman Conan took the stage after the president's speech,
making light of the assembled press with every chance possible.
Conan began by praising Obama the job creator, joking that
since he's been president, "the number of popes has doubled and the number
of Tonight Show hosts has tripled."
Not feeling shy either about using the eclectic guest list
as material, Conan laughed off Duck Dynasty stars Willie and Korie Robertson's
attendance with: "Which means the guys from Storage Wars said no."
Conan also touched upon the news with North Korea. Dubbing
Kim Jong-un "a pouty teenage boy who dresses like Rosie O'Donnell at the
Emmys."
However, the talk show host's speech could be summed up by
his own line, when he described the room of assembled correspondents as
"all just one big high school cafeteria." Adding, "Fox is the
jocks...bloggers are the goths...NPR is the table for kids with peanut
allergies. Al-Jazeera is the weird foreign exchange student nobody talks
to."
